Eighth Ephrata Dodgeball Tournament Fall 2011
EphrataMounts.com celebrated the eighth annual Dodgeball Tournament, crowning three champions for the Fall of 2011. The tournament featured forty-eight teams comprising of over 314 players all of which came together to to have fun, while raising money for Juvenile Diabetes.
The Tournament, designed to raise money for Juvenile Diabetes, raised over $11,700, marking the sixth straight year that over $10,000 was raised.
The Champions of each circuit are listed below, but in my mind the real winners are the teams that raised more than the minimum required amount.
This year three teams made over an hour trek to participate in the event, traveling from Souderton, PA. And a special surprise was received this year, upon learning that Martin Meylin Middle School, in the Lampeter-Strasburg school district, held their own fundraiser, and donated to our event.
Locally two teams raised the most money in the middle and senior school, and for their efforts, both Agent Orange (Senior Circuit) and The Dodgefathers (Junior Circuit) received a bundle of dodgeball clothes and memorabilia.

How it all went down

Rookie Circuit
In the Rookie Circuit, from a field of eight teams, The Dodgeball Thieves (5-1, 11-4) came out victorious with a three game win over The Spongebob Classics (5-1, 11-5). This marked the second year of the new 5th/6th grade format of the Rookie Circuit. Earlier in pool play Spongebob Classics had turned back the Dodgeball Thieves, but in the finals it wasn't meant to be. -
Junior Circuit
In the Junior Circuit, The Gym Class Heroes (5-1, 10-5) turned back The Dodgefathers (5-1, 11-2) two games to one. Three teams from the East Pool had advanced to the final four, previously in pool play, the Dodgefathers had defeated the Gym Class Heroes 2 games to 0. But like the Rookie finals before them, the Dodgefathers were unable to turn back the Gym Class Heroes a second time.

Senior Circuit
The Senior Circuit, featured a tournament record 28 teams. And it was not smooth sailing for the number 1 seeds coming out of pool play. Only one number 1 seed made it to the final four. Stuffit in the Ice Chest (5-3, 11-7) the three seed from the yellow pool defeated the two seed from the yellow pool Prime Time (5-2, 10-6) two games to zero to reach the finals. On the other side of the bracket Fresh Whites (3-3, 8-8) the three seed from the green pool lost two games to zero to Just Dodge It. In the finals Just Dodge It (8-0, 16-1) took the title over Stuffit in the Ice Chest two games to zero. Just Dodge It finished as the only unbeaten team in all three circuits, and would have posted a "perfect" record, had they not dropped a game to Just Avoid It (5-1, 9-2) in the Quarterfinals.
